What is confidentiality?

Confidentiality serves as a protection for clients and the Jackson Wellness Group takes confidentiality very seriously. Confidentiality protects both the individual's right to privacy and restricts the disclosure of information without the consent of the client. While infrequent, there are a few exceptions that require the therapist to break confidentiality: if the client threatens to harm themselves or others, if the client is abusing or harming a child or an elderly person, if the client's record is requested by federal or state laws, etc. For more information about confidentiality, review the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics.
